WARTS: HOMEOPATHIC APPROACH
Warts are little growths on your skin caused by a virus. This virus lives in the bottom layer of your skin and replicates there. Warts can appear nearly anywhere on the body and they differ in appearance, size, and shape.
Causes:
Viral warts, as the name suggests, are caused by the virus, the most common being the human papillomavirus (HPV) group. There are different sub-types of HPV which cause different types of warts. Like any other viral disease, viral warts are contagious and spread by direct contact.
Type:
- Plantar warts: It affect the soles of the feet. It appears as a flesh-colored or light brown lump flecked with small clotted blood vessels that look like tiny black dots.
- Genital warts: Genital warts can appear in the pubic area, on the genitals, in or around the anus, and/or in the vagina. They look like small flesh-colored, pink, or red growths.
- Flat warts: It is more common in teens and children than in adults. Flat warts are smoother, flatter, and smaller than other warts, and they generally occur in groups on your face.
Viral warts and other wart-like growths:
Sometimes, warts caused by a virus can look like other things on your skin, like skin tags, small bumps called molluscum contagiosum (which look like white pearls), moles, birthmarks, or a condition called lichen planus. A careful look by a trained doctor makes the diagnosis clear.
