CASE OF TYPHOID FEVER
Treatment
A girl of final year, age of 22 years old consulted me on 4/9/00. Her complains were as follows.
4/9/00 Fever – continous since 3 days.
temp. rises in evening
Thirst – increased
Desire fan
App. Decrease
Conc. – weakness
Resp. – Cough, dry < exertion
< walking
Head – Pain in forehead.
On examination :
Tongue - thick, dirty yellow+++ coated
Throat – congested
Considering the totality Rx BRY ALB 200
every 4 hr.given for 2 days.
0n 5/9/00
she came to me with following complaints.
Fever – continous
Temp – 101 F.
Weakness, Drowsiness
Thirst – increased ++
Vertigo < rising from seat
< motion.
Desires fan at slow speed and at distance.
Desires covering
Dryness of mouth ++
Bitter taste in mouth
Headache
Respi. : Coughing, dry, short < talking ++
Throat – Irritation
Sens. As if something is stuck up
On exam. : Tongue – thick, white coated
Throat – congested
Pulse – 95/min.
Blood report : M.P. – negative
WBC – 3600/cu mm
HB – 11.4 g/dl
Differential Count : Neutrophils – 56%
Lymphocytes – 42%
Eosinophils – 2%
Monocytes – 00%
Bosophils – 00%
Malarial parasites not detected.
Widal test : S. typhi O – agglutination seen upto the titre 1:320
S.typhi H – no agglutination seen
Fever – continous
Temp – 102 F.
Desire covering ++
Desire fan – slow
Headache esp. Left side < opening eyes
Weakness
Thirst – increase
Taste – improved
App. – improved ++
Throat – pain esp. left side > warm drinks referring to left ear
On examination : Throat – congested ++
Pulse – 70/min
She was given ARS ALB 1M every 4 hr. for 2 days.
On 8/9/00
Fever – continous
Temp. – 100 f.
thirst – increased
App. – Improved
Feels – Hot.
> headache
> weakness
Throat - > pain
On examination : Throat – congested
Pulse – 60/min.
By look she was looking very fresh and energetic. Rx. ARS ALB 1M
every 4 hr. for 2 days
11/9/00
No fever since 24 hr.
No headache, no throat pain, no coughing
Weakness was much better
App- Improved Rx. ARS ALB 1M
BD for 7 days.
17/9/00 – No complain, she was feeling much better and resumed college.
